Sylt

Sylt is the weekend the German premium class goes to and nobody else has worked out yet. A narrow island of dunes and thatched manor hotels off the north coast, long empty beaches, grey-green water and a particular kind of quiet that North Sea light does better than most. The food is seafood-first and entirely serious. The hotels are old money.

We fly here because the British premium crowd has overlooked Sylt for a generation and that is its own kind of recommendation. Because North Sea air rearranges a person. Because the best weekends are the ones the people you know haven't already posted about.
